StraitsX is participating at the Point Zero Forum 2023

June 21, 2023

We’re proud to announce that StraitsX will be participating at Point Zero Forum 2023, slated to be held later this month from 26th - 28th June 2023 in Zurich, Switzerland.

The Point Zero Forum is a Policy-Technology dialogue which will convene 1,000 central bankers, regulators and industry leaders from around the world in a series of leadership dialogues, public-private roundtables, workshops and networking opportunities to drive confidence, adoption and growth of transformative technology, while assessing the appropriate governance and risk frameworks.

Point Zero Forum 2023 will be opened by SIngapore Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies, Heng Swee Keat, and Switzerland’s Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Finance, Karin Keller-Sutter. The Forum is co-organised by the State Secretariat for International Finance and Elevandi.

Following last November’s Project Orchid demonstration of Purpose Bound Money (PBM) for retail use cases at the Singapore FinTech Festival, our CEO, Liu Tianwei will be sharing more on continuous innovation and levers to adoption of PBMs at two separate sessions during the Forum.

Unpacking Purpose Bound Money: Rethinking Programmability of Money

27th June, Tuesday, 10:00am - 12:00pm, GMT+2

This roundtable session brings together industry experts from financial institutions, FinTechs, central banks, regulators, and e-commerce players to discuss real life experience with PBM based on an underlying store of value (i.e. stablecoins such as XSGD) and how it differs from existing financial rails.

Tianwei will join the roundtable in discussing the benefits and limitations of PBMs, as well as explore the establishment of a common framework for programmability. Topics discussed will include smart contract design, interoperability between networks and the use of underlying digital tokens such as stablecoins.

Taking Purpose Bound Money Mainstream: A workshop by Amazon

27th June, Tuesday, 2:15pm - 3:45pm, GMT+2

Amazon, in partnership with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), will be holding a workshop session to explore future retail applications of PBM and how its programmable nature can support e-commerce and strengthen trust between buyers and sellers. Tianwei will join fellow industry leaders in sharing key levers to drive end-user adoption from the perspective of merchants and retail customers alike.
