StraitsX to bring first SGD-denominated stablecoin to Monad

SINGAPORE, 1 October 2026 - StraitsX today announced plans to bring XSGD and XUSD to the Monad network in early 2027. XSGD is planned to become the first SGD-denominated stablecoin natively issued on Monad, expanding the currencies available to developers, businesses and institutions across the network.
Monad is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain designed for high-performance applications while maintaining compatibility with the broader Ethereum ecosystem. The planned integration will make XSGD and XUSD available natively across Monad, bringing StraitsX’s SGD- and USD-denominated stablecoins into its growing ecosystem of applications and financial infrastructure.
XSGD and XUSD are issued by StraitsX entities licensed as Major Payment Institutions under Singapore’s Payment Services Act 2019. Both stablecoins have been recognised by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to be substantively compliant with the upcoming single-currency stablecoin regulatory framework. To date, StraitsX has processed nearly US$30 billion in cumulative stablecoin transaction volume across its infrastructure.
“Bringing XSGD to Monad as the network’s first SGD-denominated stablecoin gives us a way to put a Singapore dollar stablecoin to work in new card and payment products, without stepping outside the compliance standards we've built across the region. This builds on the regulated infrastructure and regional payment rails we have developed across Asia,” said Tianwei Liu, CEO and Co-Founder of StraitsX.
Beyond the planned native issuance of XSGD and XUSD, StraitsX intends to explore how the stablecoins could support future payment and settlement applications across the Monad ecosystem. Potential areas include cross-border payment and settlement flows and card programs that may use XSGD or XUSD as part of their underlying settlement infrastructure. Any such products or services will be subject to further assessment and applicable regulatory, compliance and partner requirements before rollout.
The planned deployment will also take into account the continuously evolving nature of money-laundering and terrorism financing typologies and will be subject to appropriate measures designed to mitigate relevant risks.
“Payments, card settlement and consumer financial products require infrastructure that can process transactions quickly and inexpensively at high volumes,” said Keone Hon, General Manager, Monad Foundation. “Monad is designed for such activity while remaining compatible with the broader EVM ecosystem, allowing StraitsX to connect with established wallets, liquidity infrastructure and financial applications across an open, interoperable ecosystem, rather than building around a proprietary environment.”
Native issuance of XSGD and XUSD on Monad is planned for early 2027, subject to applicable technical, regulatory and compliance requirements.
